A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination, but when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.

It is through the study of English and the development of sophisticated skills of communication that we can unlock doors for our pupils and support them to thrive. The English Department at Rainhill High School is dedicating to fostering student success, skill and love for English in all its forms by providing a solid and diverse academic foundation to allow us to maximise intellectual and creative potential in each pupil.

Through the coverage of a range of literature (fiction and non-fiction) that spans a large historical time frame, we enable our learners to consider the life experiences of others. We instil a clear understand British Values and encourage empathy for the suffering and experiences of others both in the past and present. Our thematic approach to study allows our pupils to appreciate and celebrate diversity and difference and foster a strong sense of mutual respect for all cultures, faiths and beliefs.
